Come and code your message and send it into space

On November 14, join us at the Geesseknäppchen for a whole day dedicated to coding: program your own message and send it directly aboard the International Space Station (ISS)!

What is Astro Pi?

Astro Pi Mission Zero offers young people a fun introduction to programming through an exceptional experience: sending a message into space!
Participants will learn to code by creating a personalized image, inspired by nature on Earth or elsewhere in the universe, which will be displayed on a computer on board the ISS.

Mission Zero is open to everyone, even beginners: no special equipment or prior knowledge is required.
Each creation will be executed on the ISS for 30 seconds, and each participant will receive a certificate stating the exact date, time and location of the display.
A unique souvenir of their contribution to the space adventure!

On the program:

Three 1h30 sessions to receive advice and support in coding the perfect message to send into space:

  • 1ʳᵉ session: 8:30 am – 10:00 am

  • 2ᵉ session: 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

  • 3ᵉ session: 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

Why take part?

Since 2020, in cycles 1 to 4 of elementary school, coding skills have been developed alongside mathematics and form part of the common tests for orientation towards secondary education.
This discipline helps to reduce the digital divide between school and an ever-changing society.

Learning to code also means learning to break down a complex problem into simple steps: a skill called computational thinking.
Teaching it in a fun, age-appropriate way stimulates creativity, logic and, who knows, maybe the desire to go into the professions of tomorrow.
