Imagine life on the Moon!
Moon Camp is a global project that challenges students under the age of 19 to design space habitats using creative tools such as 3D design software and video game-inspired concepts. Participants explore the many challenges of living on the Moon or other celestial bodies, such as protection from radiation and meteorites, or the challenges of food production.
Moon Camp is the fruit of collaboration between ESA, ESERO and the Airbus Foundation.
What if your students designed the next lunar base for astronauts?
During the Moon Camp Challenge, they will learn to understand the extreme conditions on the Moon and devise innovative solutions for surviving them.
- What does an astronaut need to survive on the Moon?
- How do you protect yourself from meteorites?
- What scientific experiments can be carried out there?
This exciting project combines science, creativity and technology while giving students a real space mission!
Objective: Design an innovative lunar habitat
Students create their own lunar village, taking into account activities, transport, habitat and food.
How can Moon Camp be integrated into the school curriculum?
Moon Camp has an open format, with no restrictions on the tools and design techniques used. As a result, Moon Camp fits into the curriculum of many primary and secondary school subjects. Below you’ll find an overview of sample projects by school subject, which you can use as a source of inspiration.
Moon Camp is open to all students up to the age of 19 (with different levels depending on age and technical experience).
A perfect interdisciplinary project to combine :
- Sciences
- Technology
- Creativity
- Teamwork
