Astro Pi – Mission Zero
Code your message and send it into space!
Mission Zero gives young people the chance to see their code run in space!
In just one hour, students write a simple program to collect data using the color and light sensor on an Astro Pi computer aboard the International Space Station, and use that data to set the background color of a personalized image that astronauts can see as they go about their daily activities.
Registration for Mission Zero 2026/2027 is open from September 14, 2026, through March 22, 2027, at 12:00 p.m. (Central European Time).
This project is recommended for students ages 8 to 14.
Why take part?
Since 2020, in cycles 1 to 4 of elementary school, coding skills have been developed in conjunction with mathematical skills.
They are part of the skills tested in the common tests organized as part of the secondary education orientation procedure.
Astro Pi is a unique opportunity to learn programming in the classroom… while touching the stars!
