Climate Detectives Kids

Be part of the solution!

Do Earth-themed activities with your students, gather clues, and earn detective badges!

With Climate Detectives Kids, students ages 5 to 13 discover Earth science through fun and engaging activities.

Earn badges to earn a Climate Detectives certification as you explore activities offered by national ESERO chapters or created by your own team.

The activities you post on the ESA website will be featured in the Climate Detectives Kids gallery on the ESA Education website:

. You can participate in the project from September through July.

Participants will also receive a Climate Detectives Kids certificate of participation signed by the ESA.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE?

Choose one of the many activities listed or create your own, then submit a description and a photo of your activity.

Teams submitting one activity will receive a silver badge. If teams complete two activities, they will receive a gold badge and a virtual certificate in recognition of their detective work to understand and protect our planet.

Activity 1: TRACK temperature changes in your town

objective

Measure temperature changes around the school and understand their link with environmental change. Students compare temperatures on the ground, under a tree and historical data from Meteolux (since 1941) and at European level (since 1850).

Activity 2: The evolution of precipitation in your community

Objective

Measure weekly rainfall amounts and compare results with data from the last 20 years.

Students will also discover :

  • How the drinking water supply works
  • The cost of water
  • The consequences of heavy rain or drought
