CanSat 2026: a spectacular final for Luxembourg’s young space talents 🚀
The CanSat educational project, organized by ESERO Luxembourg, reached its climax on Friday May 8, 2026 with a spectacular launch day at the Eselborn military base on the Belgian-Luxembourg border, followed the next day by the presentation of the projects to a jury of experts.
After several months of preparation, 14 teams of enthusiastic students were finally able to test their mini-satellites in real-life conditions. Each CanSat, a miniature satellite the size of a soda can, was dropped by rocket from an altitude of over 1,000 meters to carry out a range of scientific and technical missions.
Complete immersion in a space mission
The CanSat program lets students experience all the stages of a real space mission: design, programming, testing, data collection, scientific analysis and final presentation to a panel of experts.
Since October, participating teachers have been trained to support their teams in this unique scientific adventure. Over a period of several months, the students demonstrated their creativity, rigor and team spirit in developing their projects.
The day after the launches, the teams presented their results and scientific analyses to a jury of space specialists at the Luxembourg Science Center in Differdange.
A unique scientific and human experience
More than just a competition, CanSat represents a real educational and human adventure. The project offers young people a hands-on immersion in the fields of science, engineering and innovation, while developing essential skills such as teamwork, project management and problem-solving.
This 2026 edition once again highlighted the talent, motivation and potential of Luxembourg’s young science and space enthusiasts.
