We told you a few weeks ago that, following the national finals of the Climate Detectives 2026 competition, the winning students had secured their ticket to represent the Grand Duchy at European level.
And now they have! Nika Obrovac, Karolina V.L. Yazbeck and Saule Staneviciute flew to Frascati, Italy, to take part in the prestigious Climate Detectives Summit at the heart of ESRIN, ESA’s Earth observation center.

For two intense days, our three young researchers had the chance to present their scientific study project to a panel of international experts and other delegations from all over Europe. A superb opportunity to highlight the quality of the environmental projects carried out in Luxembourg this year.

In addition to presentation sessions, the team took part in interactive workshops and had the opportunity to interact directly with top scientists specializing in the observation of our planet. From satellite data management to a detailed understanding of local climate disturbances, this summit was an immense source of inspiration for these future scientists.

Our warmest congratulations once again to Nika, Karolina and Saule for their remarkable career, their eloquence and their commitment to protecting our environment. Luxembourg can be proud of its “detectives”!

Many thanks also to ESA and all the teams at ESRIN for hosting this exceptional summit, which year after year inspires genuine vocations. 🌍🚀🛰️
